The Abandoned Victoria - A Poem

Jordan Khan

The old Victoria hospital in London, Ontario

There’s an empty hospital in my neighbourhood

The windows and doors all boarded with wood

Called the abandoned Victoria, the old hospital down the way

Its light-yellow bricks are beginning to grey

Hospitals are for healing

But not everyone can be saved

While some patients are leaving

Others have no choice but to stay

Last days were spent in a hospital bed

Abandoned by the living, but not by the dead

Spirits are trapped within these walls

Crying out, though no one hears their calls

Entities wandering the haunted corridors

Searching for solace like the early foragers

Confused by the decay of the building around

These souls and their artifacts may never be found
